EAGLES THROTTLE KINGS

The Stony Plain Eagles offense exploded on Saturday night when they defeated the Morinville Kings 17-2 at the Glenn Hall Arena.

It was all Eagles from start to finish. Leading 4-1 after the first period, 12-1 after the second and finished the game off with five more goals in the third period for an emphatic win. The Eagles fired 55 shots on net and goaltender Colton Iwashuck picked up the win with 12 saves on 14 shots.

Fifteen Eagles registered at least a point in the win. The Eagles were led by the local Stony Plain natives, Jacob Hiemstra (1 goal, 5 assists), Brenden Willey (3 goals, 2 assists), Eric Perneel (2 goals, 2 assists) and Jarod Mottershead (4 goals) who all had impressive nights offensively. Both Scott Glennie and Travis Dunstall had 2 goals and 2 assists as well.

With the win the Eagles are tied with the Lacombe Generals for first place in the NCHL with 14 points each after eight games.

Next weekend your Eagles travel to Wetaskiwin for a Saturday night tilt against the Longhorns and then host the Westlock Warriors for a very rare Sunday evening game at the Glenn Hall arena on Sunday December 1st. Game time is 7:45 pm in Stony Plain!

The Eagles will be collecting donations for the Kinsmen of Stony Plain Christmas Hamper Drive!

All Eagles fans are asked if they can, to bring new unwrapped toys, donations or gift cards for children 17 and under to the game on Sunday to help families in need this holiday season!
