The Stony Plain Eagles are set to fly in their inaugural season in the North Central Hockey League (NCHL), when they hit the ice at their home opener on Saturday October, 12th vs. the Wetaskiwin Longhorns. Puck drop is 7:45pm at the Glenn Hall Arena.
This summer the Stony Plain Eagles and Innisfail Eagles decided to leave the now defunct Chinook Hockey League as the remaining two teams could no longer continue to operate with just two teams in the league.
The NCHL, and its league members voted to welcome both Stony Plain and Innisfail into the league. The NCHL is currently comprised of nine teams, which includes:
Bonnyville Sr. Pontiacs
Camrose Bruins
Devon Barons
Innisfail Eagles
Lacombe Generals
Morinville Kings
Stony Plain Eagles
Wetaskiwin Longhorns
Westlock Warriors
The 2024-25 season will see the league celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The NCHL will feature a 16-game regular season, featuring a balanced schedule of a home and away series between each of the member clubs.
