EAGLES SEASON COMES TO AN END IN WETASKIWIN

Feb. 13, 2026

The Stony Plain Eagles saw their season come to an end on Friday night in Wetaskiwin, putting in a gutsy road performance that probably deserved a better fate. With the 5-2 loss the Eagles season is over and the Longhorns will move on to play the Camrose Bruins in Round 2 of the NCHL playoffs.

Once again the Eagles found themselves down 1-0 after 20 minutes of play, despite controlling most of the play and the shot clock.

In the middle frame, the Eagles found themselves down 2-0 just over a minute in and needed to regroup to make this a game. And with that being said, they did just that scoring twice in a four minute span, sending the game to the final frame tied 2-2.

Jordan Ceh going hard to the net knocked home a click Kye Buchanan pass to cut the Longhorns lead in half before Ryan Benn went bar down on Longhorns netminder Devin Buffalo to tie the game.

In the final frame, the Eagles continue to push and thought they took the lead but Scott Glennie's shot didn't fully cross the line, keeping the game deadlocked at two.

The Longhorns would take the lead just past the half way mark and would go on the solidify the win and the series with a 5-2 victory on home ice.

The Eagles left it all on the ice and were respectful opponents as the final buzzer sounded and the hand shake line wrapped up a really good opening round playoff series.
