HOHMANN'S HAT TRICK PROPELS EAGLES OVER KINGS

The Stony Plain Eagles returned to the win column emphatically this past weekend on home ice with a 13-0 drubbing of the Morinville Kings.

 

The Eagles were led offensively by Captain Chad Hohmann who set a career high for points in a game with 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists).

 

Hohmann got the Eagles going with his first of the game, a top corner shot on a 3 on 2 rush  at 5:28 of the first period with assists to Kruise Reddick and Ryan Denton.

 

With Just over a minute to go in the first Blake Grainger deposited his second goal of the season on a nifty individual effort to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead with assists going to Brendan Willey and Denton.

 

30 seconds later, Alex Marrocco tallied his first as an Eagle on the powerplay, finding a seam from the blue line to make it 3-0 for the home team. Assists on the play went to Zane Avery and Willey.

 

In the second, the Eagles kept coming when Hohmann notched his second of the game short handed on a tap in doorstep feed created by Eagles Assistant Captain Kruise Reddick. Second assist on the play went to Ryan Denton for his 3rd assist of the night.

 

Less than a minute later, Jarod Mottershead got in on the action depositing a rebound off an Alex Marrocco point shot to make it 5-0.

 

Stony Plain Native Brendan Willey found the back of the net for his first goal of the season on a net front deke to make it 6-0. Assists went to Jacob Pink and Grainger.

 

Then at 9:13 of the second period Hohmann completed his hat-trick after he converted a one timer goal off a slick pass on a 2 on 1 from Burke Gallimore to leave the Eagles with a 7-0 lead heading to the third.

 

The third period saw the Eagles step on the gas even more.

 

Chad Malmas buried a one timer, top shelf in the slot from a Blake Grainger pass out of the corner at 17:55 of the 3rd period. Just over a minute later, Burke Gallimore flashed off back to back toe drags around both a Morinville defender and their goaltender to register his first of the season, with Hohmann and Jordan Pink receiving the assists.

 

Ryan Denton deposited a breakaway goal for his first goal of the season and 4th point of the night.

 

Then Grainger collected his second of the night on a beautiful weaving tic, tac, toe passing play from Hohmann and Gallimore.

 

Ryan Benn joined the scoring barrage on a back door one timer goal from Hohmann and James Miller.

 

And Finally Stony Plains own Jacob Pink notched his first career Stony Plain Eagles goal off a 3 on 2 rush shooting it short side from a Chad Hohmann pass.

 

14 different Eagles registered a point in the goal filled game, while Eagles goalies Colton Iwaschuk and Stony Plain Native Courtney Lane combined to register a shut out.

 

The Eagles head out on the road for the next four games with their 1st road contest taking place in Lacombe this Saturday November 22 at 7:30 pm.
