INNISFAIL TAKES FIRST BATTLE OF THE EAGLES

Oct. 22, 2025

The Stony Plain Eagles fell to the Innisfail Eagles 7-4, in a see saw battle that saw multiple lead changes with back and forth action all night!

Innisfail opened the scoring on a goal mouth scramble just three and half minutes into the game. Stony Plain answered with two goals in the firstoff a nice short side top shelf goal by Blake Grainger and Jarod Mottershead who finsihed a nice passing play to give Stony Plain the lead heading into the intermission.

Innisfail replied to tie the game early in the second but Ryan Been restored the one goal lead for Stony with wrap around goal on the powerplay for his first of the season. Innisfail quickly replied to again to tie the game. Eagles assistant captain Kruise Reddick fired a bullet against three Innisfail defenders to increase the lead to two, but Innisfail did not quit and scored their third tying goal of the period to send things to the third period deadlocked at four goals each.

Stony Plain got into some penalty trouble and Innisfail made them pay, scoring two powerplay goals in 37 seconds to grab a two goal lead. Stony Plain pushed hard but Innisfail Eagles goalie and former Stony Plain Eagle Wade Waters stood tall in net before Innisfail sealed the game with and empty net goal.

It was a classic battle between the birds!

Your home town Stony Plain Eagles are back on home ice this weekend to host the Tofield Satelites for the first time ever on Saturday October 25th, game time is 7:45 pm!
