The Stony Plain Eagles opened their 2024-25 playoffs this past weekend, winning the first two games of their first round series against the Camrose Bruins.
The series opened up on Friday night in Camrose, with the visitors coming out on top with a 6-3 win. Scott Glennie (2G, 1A) and Wil Tomchuk (3A) led the way for the Eagles with three points each. Wyatt Hoflin was solid between the pipes stopping 25 Camrose shots enroute to the win.
The two teams were back at it the next night, this time in front of a rowdy crowd at the Glenn Hall Arena. After a fairly even first period, the Eagles went to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Greyson Pawlenchuk. A wild second period saw the Eagles score five goals and take a commanding 6-1 lead into the final frame. A late Camrose push saw the game tighten up, but in the end the Eagles came out on top 6-3. Nick Leyer (1G, 2A) and Will Tomchuk (3A) lead the Eagles attack while Colton Iwaschuk shut the door in goal, making 29 saves.
The Eagles host the Bruins for Game 3 this Saturday night at the Glenn Hall Arena. Tickets are available at the door and we promise the beer garden will be stocked up so c'mon down and cheer on your Stony Plain Eagles!
