In what was a highly anticipated game on the schedule, Saturday night's matchup between the Stony Plain Eagles and the Innisfail Eagles lived up to all the hype, with the visitors coming out on top 4-3.
After a fast paced scoreless first period, Blake Grainger put the hometown Eagles up 1-0, beating Innisfail goaltender Chance Griffiths just over eight minutes into the period. That lead was short lived as Innisfail tallied three goals in the final eight minutes of the period, taking a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.
A determined Eagles team found themselves back within one as Grayson Pawlenchuk made it 3-2 just three minutes into the final frame.
Innisfail would regain their two-goal lead late in the third, before Kruise Reddick made it 4-3 with 1:18 to play.
Despite a frantic final minute, the Eagles weren't able to find the equalizer and dropped a 4-3 decision.
Wyatt Hoflin was stellar in between the pipes for the Eagles, making 23 saves in a losing effort.
The Eagles final regular season game saw its largest crowd of the season at the Glenn Hall Arena, setting the stage for an upcoming playoff run.
Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday... Stay tuned for an updated playoff schedule.
